🚫 This course is NOT for:

dogs with major grooming or handling struggles
dogs with dog reactivity
anyone looking for skills to use on various breeds beyond their own dog (we’re not teaching groomers; we’re teaching owners!)
puppies
XL breeds (dogs larger than 100lbs)
double-coated dogs (with enough interest, we may run a double-coated-specific course – so let us know here if this is something you’d like us to run!)

We currently have created one course which caters to breeds that grow hair and are not double coated (example: Shih tzu vs. Pomeranian). Our course offers basic styles of haircuts but does not include breed specific clips (example: West Highland terrier or Schnauzer clips).

However we are looking to continue to expand our program in the future so if you are looking for a type of groom we are not currently offering, we would love to hear from you! Are you here because your dog struggles with grooming? Please note:

We cannot accept dogs with severe reactivity or major behavioural issues. However some behavioural issues may be considered on a case by case basis as well as dogs that have graduated our conditioning program. We may require a preliminary assessment to determine whether or not your dog is the right fit for this program.

What’s included in the program?

3x 2-hour classes, once a week for 3 weeks, hosted in person at The Calm Dog Studio
A detailed workbook to take home with a full review of what you’ve learned each week
Direct 1:1 communication with your instructor outside of class time for troubleshooting and discussion
Full set of professional-grade tools* including: scissors, brushes, clippers, comb attachments, shampoo, dryer, nail clippers, and grooming arm and loop 
- * Your set of tools will include ALL the tools and equipment you’ll need – with the exception of a grooming table which can be purchased separately.

We’re now accepting applications for classes starting in both May and June 2024. The program cost is $2,300 plus 5% GST for large dogs, and $2,200 plus 5% GST for small dogs.
